Bandago Founder

Sharky founded Bandago in 2003 with a single van parked in front of his basement apartment. The company now has over 600 vehicles in 11 states across the US. He also coded Bandago's world class rental management platform from scratch, writing every line of code. The platform handles front and back-end reservations, fleet management, accounting, invoicing, vehicle maintenance, HR, and more.

Industry Leadership

Since 2020 Sharky has served as the elected Chairman of the American Car Rental Association's Board of Directors. ACRA is the primary trade association for the car rental industry. As a board member he has been an advocate for consumers, and successfully lobbyied congress for a federal ban on renting vehicles with open safety recalls (Raechel and Jacqueline Houck Safe Rental Car Act). In 2018 he led the effort to pass AB 2620, a California state law that helps reduce the number of rental vehicles stolen in California, and in 2024 further strengthened those protections with AB 2741. He has also worked with the SF District Attorney's office to reduce the number of car break-ins in San Francisco.

Public Service

In 2019 Sharky was appointed by San Francisco Mayor Breed to the San Francisco Small Business Commission, and was elected President of the Commission in January of 2020. He continued to serve as President throughout the pandemic until the end of his term in 2023. In that role Sharky was a vocal advocate for small businesses in San Francisco, working on numerous ordinances and ballot measures to help small businesses recover from the effects of the pandemic.

In 2020 he was appointed to the San Francisco Economic Recovery Task Force, which issued a report with recommendations for the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors on how to help the City's economy recover from the Pandemic.

After completing his term on the Small Business Commission, he was appointed to the San Francisco Homeless Oversight Commission in 2023. The Homeless Oversight commission has oversight over the Homeless and Supportive Housing Department, and its $700M+ annual operating budget. In 2024, as the Commission's elected Data Officer he produced a report on System Flow in the Homeless Response System which resulted in numerous policy and data reporting changes in the department. In 2025 he was reappointed to the commission for a second term by Mayor Lurie.

In 2024 Sharky was appointed by US Transportation Secretary Buttigieg and US Energy Secretary Granholm to the United States Electric Vehicle Working Group. The EV Working Group was created by Congress to help smooth the transition to EV's in the United States. While serving on the group he advocated for the faster deployment of charging stations, the deployment of chargers in places where people travel (airports, hotels, parks), and making sure that the energy sector reserved capacity for transportation needs.

Artistic Career

In the late 90's Sharky was best known as a songwriter and guitarist for the band Creeper Lagoon, a critically acclaimed band (voted Best New Artist in SPIN magazine in 1997) that released several albums on the major label Dreamworks. The band had songs in numerous film and TV shows, including The Sopranos, Vanilla Sky, Orange County, Shallow Hal, and Queer As Folk.

In 2018 Sharky collaborated with Comedy Central's Samantha Bee TV show, writing lyrics, music, and producing a series of humorous musical pieces. with Samantha Bee
